The Superior Method  | 
  
| Begin by duplicating the Background layer, either dragging  the Background layer onto the New Layer icon (next to the layers palette trash  bin) or by (menu bar), Layer > Duplicate Layer > Background Copy > OK. Deactivate the Background copy layer. Activate the Background layer.  |

Make a selection around the subject to be in focus.  |

Using the 'Delete' key will activate 'Fill Content Aware' box.  Click 'OK'.  |

| If all goes well the subject area will have been filled with appropriate matter. If there's some untidiness, this can be further edited. |

| With the 'marching ants' still visible, save the selection by menu bar > Select > Save Selection. |

In the 'Name' box, give the selection a name and click 'OK'. The selection is stored and available for future use with the image. Deselect, Ctr/Cmd+D (Menu Bar - Select > Deselect)  |
