Welcome to the Midlands RPS Digital Imaging Centre
About the Centre

Formed in 1997 as a Specialist Interest Group within the RPS structure, the RPS Digital Imaging Group explores Digital Imaging in a variety of contexts.

The RPS DI Group (DIG) has several sub-groups or 'Centres' located in different parts of the UK.
DIG Centres organise locally-based programmes of lectures and other matters of interest.

Established in different areas of the UK, the DIG 'Centres' have evolved to cater for the local needs of digital photographers.  However, the coverage is far from total and the RPS DI Group is always keen to hear from local volunteers to establish a new 'Centre'.

The Midlands RPS DI Centre is one of the longest established and we offer.....

We meet every two months on a Sunday at

Visitors are very welcome.
Visitors pay the usual £7 Meeting Fee and are allowed to attend three meetings after which they are required to join the Centre.
If you belong to the RPS Digital Imaging Group (not just the RPS) there is no further charge to join our centre. Otherwise, you must pay a £10 Administration Fee
(£15 for two family members at the same address).

Each meeting lasts all day, and you need to bring a packed lunch.
Tea and coffee are provided free, and there is a bar with very reasonable prices.
Doors open at 9.30 and meetings start promptly at 10.30, finishing around 4 pm.
There is a £7 entry fee each time.

Booking Your Place
With a large membership we have had to introduce a booking system.
130 places are available for each meeting, on a 'first come first served' basis.
Booking for each meeting opens on the evening of the previous meeting. So, for example, you may book for the May event any time from the evening of the March meeting.

So please do not assume you have a place unless you have received confirmation.

Please note: Here and there, you may discover references to 'Mids DI Group' rather than 'Mids DI Centre'.
This is the result of a minor update, name-change, for local DIG meetings to be referred to as 'Centres'.
We have sought to swap over to 'Centre' wherever possible but a few may have escaped!
In the same way, 'MIDIG' has morphed into 'MIDIC' - but then, hey, what's in a name!

Brian Beaney FRPS

'Beyond the Moment of Capture'

A series of lectures, talks and demonstrations on a variety of topics

Brian, a superb graphics artist, produces images digitally painted with light creating moods and atmospheres aimed to epitomise the peace and tranquillity of scenes and landscapes.

Through projected images,"Beyond the Moment of Capture," will feature the original images, move through the methods used to produce the final exhibition print, provide relevant technical information and show how the images are constructed using Photoshop.

The majority of the pictures to be shown have been accepted in various exhibitions, including the RPS International Exhibitions and at the London Salon of Photography. They have won many awards and prizes both at home and abroad.

This meeting offers members the opportunity to see some remarkably artistic work and learn how it was created from a photographer who is currently in very great demand.
