Still Life (Level 3)

This 'module' introduces the participant to the tradition of 'Still Life' from its origins in Fine Art to photographic representations.
The course includes details about the conventions of composition as applied to the genre.
Plus, how to start? - From a 'blank canvass' or 'objet trouve?'
Lighting for Still Life and how to the 'introduce narrative into the picture' are also features of this course. An introduction to 'semiotics' / image analysis is also included.

The participant is encouraged to select a theme and produce a set of pictures based upon it. Through discussion, practice and illustration the student is encouraged to improve his/her critical skills and thus improve picture making.
