Natural history (Level 3)
Course reference number 62/59A

This 'module' looks at ways of recording nature in its myriad forms.
What equipment, lenses and special accessories are needed?

The course explores how to make a 'faithful and aesthetically pleasing record' of the subject, plus what film to choose and the conventions of composition as related to 'natural history' work.

The works of some of the masters of the genre are reviewed. Lighting - natural, flash and artificial is discussed.

The participant is encouraged to select a theme and produce a set of pictures based upon it. Through discussion, practice and illustration the student is encouraged to improve his/her critical skills and thus improve picture making.
